BLOG 6 - Postgraduates Studies

Since before going to university, I´ve thought that I would like to do a postgraduate. But, as I told you on some occasion, I´m not studying the career that was my first option. For this reason, I want to study the career that was my first option after finishing this one. After this, study a postgraduate. I want to study a postgraduate for two reasons; First, I´ve always liked to study and know what else I can. Second, the job opportunities that will be opened by having a greater number of studies are better. My idea is to carry out these studies in a row, because, even I like to study, it is very easy for me to lose the study habit. As for the obstacles, I think the main one would be money. But somehow, I know that I must go into debt. I would like to continue my studies at the same university where I am, because I really liked the experience (despite the online classes). Sometimes when I'm not in a good mood, it makes me want to leave everything here and do nothing else. But I know that to compete my goals I must endure and continue with my plans.

I honestly believe that learning and knowing is one of the best things in life. So, for those of you reading this, take heart and success! They can complete anything they set their mind to.

 Academic Challenges for 2021

When I imagined myself in college, I never thought it would be this way. I believe that the pandemic has taken away the university experience of the first years and that can´t be recovered. This situation has demotivated me, sometimes I want to stop studying while the pandemic continues and come back when it's over. But my moods are varied, and sometimes I want one thing and then another, so I have not done it. In addition, I feel that I´ve not learned much with the online classes, because since I have the necessary materials on hand for the tests, I should not learn them by memory. One of the biggest obstacles to online classes has been getting up to enter classes. As I just have to get up and turn on the computer, many times the desire to stay in bed is very strong (sometimes I go to class and fall sleep hehe, but it's a secret). One of the things that I dislike the most about online classes is that I depend on my internet signal, if it doesn´t work I can´t enter classes and I must wait to see the recording.

My challenges for 2021 are to end the year alive hahaha I mean not being very demotivated in the last days. I also have other challenges that have nothing to do with studies, but I'm not going to tell you about those.

I hope that we will return to normality and face-to-face classes soon. I NEED IT HAHA!

My dream job

I´ve always dreamed of doing research. There was a time when I was obsessed with Indiana Jones and from that moment I´ve wanted to do the same as him. I imagine walking through ancient ruins with my whip and gun. Although I´m clear that it is only a fantasy, I´m content to work outdoors investigating ancient civilizations through the remains they have left. But to be honest, I would love it!

 I would love to work in the countries around the Mediterranean, especially Greece, is my favorite destination. 

One of my dreams is to make a worldwide discovery that contributes to the understanding of ancient history (if it´s possible to find something magical like in Indiana Jones) 

About money, I honestly don't care much, as long as I have to eat and where to sleep I will be fine. The best salary is to know and do what I like

I think this has always been my dream job, maybe at some point I had another orientation and wanted to be an engineer, but it was a short moment of my life (luckily, because now it would be the last thing I would do)

To be honest I don't see it so much as a dream, but as a goal or ambition. Someday I'll make it, I'll be like Indiana Jones !!!

The Role of Technology in my Profession and Life

I´m from the generation that was born with technology, I have lived my whole life using it so I don't know another way of life. But I like to think that I could live without it. I use technological devices from the moment I wake up until I go to sleep. My alarm clock is an application on my phone, my classes are done through the computer and in some of my free time I watch television or read books from the phone. So you see, I always use technology.

I could say that my favorite technology is the phone, cause I consider it´s the most practical. On the phone I take notes from classes, check social media, make calls, send messages, play games, etc.

As I'm a student of art history, many of the works of art that I study are not possible to see live cause they are in other countries. In those cases, the existence of technology and that I can search for images of the works on the internet is very helpful. If the technology didn´t exist, I would have to travel to the places where the works are located, settle for poor quality images or spend a lot of money on art books. That's why technology is an important part of my career.

 A beautiful memorie

One of the most beautiful memories I have is from a trip to the south of Chile with my grandparents, cousin and younger brother. Although I already wrote about this memory in a post on this blog last semester, I would love to tell you again! 

The memory I'm talking about is from the last trip I made with my grandfather, who died a few months later. In the summer of 2017 we did a car trip throughout the south of Chile, in which we visited the city of Talcahuano. In the city of Talcahuano is the Huascar ship, which works as a museum. My grandfather was a naval officer, so it was easy to get in and we didn't long lines! Inside the ship, we did a tour guided by a museum manager. Everything was very interesting and beautiful, but the real story is in this photo!

It's supposed that you can´t take pictures of military and naval bases in the country But we took a picture with the naval base behind! We didn´t do it intentionally, but when we realized what happened, we could not stop laughing!

It is one of the best memories I have with my grandfather and one of the last.

Greece

One of the thing that I like the most is the culture and mythology of Greece. One of my dream is visit to Greece to see all the beautifull thing that is there.

One day, years ago, I was watching TV and started a documentary about Greek buildings, it was love at first sight. From that moment I knew that I wanted to know that place.

 If I could visit Greece, I would go to the Acropolis of Athens first to see the ost impressive monuments in the world the Parthenos, the temple of Zeus, the temple of Athena Nike, etc. I would love to see the monuments with my own eyes and take pictures of myself with them.

Apart from the Acropolis, the whole country is full of memory and culture, so I would like to visit as much as possible. But my greatest wish is to visit the city of Athens. I would like to visit Greece knowing the language a little, so before going I plan to study the language a little. I believe that visiting Greece is a duty that I have as an art historian and also an experience that will change my life.

I could tell you a lot about the places I plan to visit in Greece, but I would need an additional blog for it!

I am a student of theory and history of art, a completely humanistic and social career. Personally, I think that everything related to the social affects, in some way or another, the world. Because the world is made up of people who live together, that is, societies. My career is a contribution to memory and history, because through certain aspects we can know a small part of the societies that existed through time. Art is important to culture, which is built through societies. I would like to contribute my grain of sand to society in the same way that many writers, philosophers, historians and artists did in their years, I want to leave something for tomorrow, for future generations. I consider that it is very important that people have a bit of knowledge in the artistic aspect and about its history, because a more educated population in different areas, creates wiser societies with knowledge of their own culture, while benefiting interculturality. Culture is too important to society, let's not put it aside!
